Made To Crave

Thank you to LitFuse Publicity Group for providing this book free for my honest review.

Alright, I must admit, as much as I love Lysa TerKeurst, I was not sure I was going to like this book. I don't know why I was crazy enough to think this girl would just write some fluff about getting healthy, etc, etc. I just love her heart and it was so transparent here! She made some of the same comments/complaints my heart was speaking right there in the book. She owns them. Then she points us back to the One Who can ultimately help us in our weakness. She brought our cravings and food habits into the light of Scripture and really clarified with me that I have a spiritual problem not just a food problem. Love, love, love this book. So practical. Anything that pushes my heart to the feet of Jesus, is awesome. Lysa helped lift my eyes off of the food, perceived deprivation, the exhaustion that comes from working out and placed them squarely on the One they should be looking at. I highly recommend this book to both men and women. Thank you, Lysa, for your honesty and your heart.

About the book: Just because a woman finally fits into her skinny jeans doesn't mean she's won her battle with food. Too often, women overlook the spiritual component to their physical struggle with healthy eating. Made to Crave taps into the desires God gave you to consume food without letting food consume you!

Made to Crave is the missing link between a woman's desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen. The reality is we were made to crave. Craving isn't a bad thing. But we must realize God created us to crave more of him. Many of us have misplaced that craving by overindulging in physical pleasures instead of lasting spiritual satisfaction. If you are struggling with unhealthy eating habits, you can break the "I'll start again Monday" cycle, and start feeling good about yourself today. Learn to stop beating yourself up over the numbers on the scale. Discover that your weight loss struggle isn't a curse but rather a blessing in the making, and replace justifications that lead to diet failure with empowering go-to scripts that lead to victory. You can reach your healthy weight goal - and grow closer to God in the process. This is not a how-to book. This is not the latest and greatest dieting plan. This book is the necessary companion for you to use alongside whatever healthy lifestyle plan you choose. This is a book and Bible study to help you find the "want to" in making healthy lifestyle choices. 224 pages. Companion Bible study DVD set also available. http://madetocrave.org/purchase-resources/

Christmas Day

Somehow I didn't get as many pictures of opening stockings as I thought I did. We celebrated Christmas morning on Christmas Eve. We opened stockings as is tradition for my family and included Amanda's family's tradition Tea Ring for Christmas breakfast. Nugget was even able to drink hot chocolate for breakfast which completely made her day! We topped off the day by going to Pathway's Christmas Eve service. It was a beautiful way to top off our celebrations.

Christmas Eve

We had a very lovely "Christmas Eve" dinner and present opening on the 23rd. We moved everything up by a day as I had to work Christmas Day. We were so excited to have Amanda join us for a week over Christmas. She definitely made it more festive for us!
For our dinner, we went with my family's traditional Oyster Stew and Ham dinner. It was quite yummy and even Amanda had a little spoonful of the oyster stew.
I found the template for the cute gift tags on HP's site. My parents got Greer her cute little outfit.
I am so blessed to have Ralph and Amanda in my life! Those two keep me sane and on track. I cannot express how grateful I am for both of them. Thanks to Amanda the presents all got wrapped. Ralph kept us all sane. I still haven't completed the girls Christmas present but thanks to Amanda and the grandparents, the girls had plenty to open. Ralph surprised me with a very sentimental gift(s) reflecting our year and his appreciation for me. It was very special.

Celebrating

We had fun making some memories with some new friends this Christmas season. We went to Garden d'Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. They were spectacular AND we were able to go on a FREE night! How awesome is that?!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Everyone! I've seen so many neat New Year's blog posts all about resolutions made, resolutions not made, favorite books read, favorite people met, people to meet, favorite places, favorite foods, top moments, etc. Each one I've read I think, "I want to do that!" However, I find that mostly I just want to get caught up with all of you and catch you up with us.

She's helping!
I find that I/we cannot do it all. I/we cannot work, raise these girls, build our marriage, craft, cook, clean, etc AND blog consistently. Usually, only a few things can coincide. As the raising the girls and working things are a constant the other things come and go. I've been so focused on a few other categories that the blogging has fallen way off. I have thought of you, though. I picture document everything as though I am consistent in my blogging.

Our beautiful tree!

I decided to start at the beginning of the month with finding our tree. We went to Reade Christmas Tree Ranch in Snohomish. They were wonderful and even took the time to explain some of the trees found in this region (as compared to OH). They pointed out a couple trees that we may like based on our previous trees/preferences. We ended up finding our most favorite tree since we've been married! It was a Grand Fir--we love to needles, so pretty! And the fragrance was amazing!
