Is Your Home a Haven or a Headache?

This is what I am pondering today. I am reading Capture His Heart by Lysa TerKeurst. It got me thinking. I don't know how well I'm doing on this. How about you? What do you do to make your home a haven for your husband? This is something my mom always taught me. I can't say I've followed her advice very well. Well, tonight is date night. I think I will make this a topic of conversation. Our ideas of haven may look very differently. I know what I think I should be doing, but is that what he is looking for? That is the question. Please leave me ideas of what you try to do. I am curious.

  1. Hmmm...good question to ponder!
Haven.....for my hubby, it's coffee available to brew (not running out of beans), a cozy feeling decor...and good smelling candles, a content wife who loves the Lord. Those are things I personally work on =o)

  2. I like this book! I used to read this book (and one other marriage book) whenever I was mad at my husband. It usually pointed out what I was doing wrong and made me have a better attitude. :)

A haven for my husband is not asking him to do anything (as in "honey do" list type things) for at least 15+ mintues and just let him be at home.
But lately I don't get to talk to him much for the first few mintues anyway because he gets pummeled by the kids - they get pretty excited to greet him! And he loves it!

  3. Hmm! I think that's something Brian and I need to sit down and talk about too! Like Joy, I try to give Brian some down time after work. I've been trying to keep the house a bit tidier so it doesn't look like mass chaos when he walks in. I brew him coffee in the morning and usually let him sleep in. But I'm sure there is a lot I'm missing and I certainly need to work on my attitude a little more.
