What a Weekend!

I hope you wonderful Easter weekend! I did not. I have decided that none of my patients are allowed to have bowel movements again. Ever. We had one get up, use the facilities, go back to bed and code. At. shift. change. It always happens at shift change. The next evening I had a patient preparing for a colonoscopy, get up, sit on the toilet and pass out. At. shift. change. I basically put in 40 hours in 3 days. So this is my lesson to you all, be wary of going to the bathroom. It is a scary place--especially for your nurse.

  4. I have traumatic visions from my patients and bowel moments. And my very first night as a brand new nurse- my patient went to the bathroom, we helped him back to bed, and then he coded- at the very beginning of the shift.

That's pretty rough to have that happen two nights in a row, though- and at. shift. change. why do these things always happen at. shift. change.

oh, my, I bet we could write a book about our experiences.

Blessings to you- hope things go better for you!
