Dinner and Promotions

As part of our going here and there, we went to dinner at Thai 9 with a group from work to celebrate a friend's pinning on 1st Lt. It was very yummy and Nugget was a big hit with everyone!

Celtice Festival Fun

Nugget really enjoyed playing in the grass at the Celtic Festival. She also showed us she's starting to get the hang of crawling!
There are these neat statues of kids playing in the park where the Celtic Festival is held. Nugget had a lot of fun "interacting" with them!

Celtic Festival

We've been quite busy lately going here and there! This past weekend was no exception. I had to work Saturday night but that did not stop us from getting in some time at the Dayton Celtic Festival.

We, of course, listened to one of our favorite bands, Gaelic Storm. They were the headliner, so they came on late Friday and Nugget had enough about half way through. We went back Sunday and she did great through 2 other bands and then fell asleep for Gaelic Storm. Guess she's not as much of a fan as her parents! Hee, hee!

We found three more bands we really enjoyed as well! If you like Celtic rock, check out Blackthorn, Slide (we really enjoyed the lead singer's voice), and Scythian (these boys had so much energy, they made me feel old!).

The best thing about the festival is always the people. It is a great place to people watch! You see all types of people--grandparents there to watch kids perform Irish dance routines, hard core Irish/Scots in full kilts, farmers, DINK's (dual income no kids), families, etc. There were tables set up next to the main stage this year and everyone sat European style (eating with people one doesn't know). We met several neat people this way. We also ran into old friends that we only seem to see this one weekend a year.

If you live in the area, you should try and make it out next year!

Englund's Came to Ohio Part 2

Happy birthday, Chad! Hope this year is less traumatic than last!

While my sister and her family were here, we did two very Daytonian things--the Air Force Museum and a Dayton Dragon's game.

At the Air Force Museum, M'C couldn't stop counting planes wherever he went. There were so many he could hardly contain himself! Both the older boys enjoyed the interactive exhibits while L'C and Nugget enjoyed hanging out in their strollers. :)

Englund's Came To OH

We were so blessed to be part of my sister's vacation/sabbatical this year! They came in for 2 days and three nights. We fit in as much as we possibly could. It was so fun having such a full house--4 adults, 4 kids (one preschool, one toddler, two infants), one large dog and a cat all in our 1600 square foot house! Whew! We were close but we had fun!

We headed out to the Wegerzyn Garden Metro Park to play in the Children's Discovery Garden.Englund's Come to OH 174

Anniversary in Bellefontaine

039
For our anniversary, we headed up to Bellefontaine, OH, a cute little town northeast of us. A girlfriend from work was getting married up there that weekend so we decided to make it an overnight trip.

We dropped Nugget off at Grandpa and Grandma's. That was a little stressful. It was the first time we'd left her overnight. I was so paranoid she wouldn't have enough to eat and that too much would get thawed and not used. I had to pack for her and us--now two ways to forget something! It was a little overwhelming for me. I survived.

045We stayed at this adorable B&B, Country Home & Harness Bed and Breakfast. It is run by a lovely couple who are originally from Ontario, Canada. We always love staying at B&B's and getting to know the folks that run them. It was a relaxing couple of days. There is a beautiful lake (yes, lake--in OHIO)that we took a drive around. We went to the local farmer's market and found a new cheese we are in LOVE with. Blue Jacket Dairy has this AMAZING Gretna Grillin' cheese. We are in love! We are so glad we went.

Nugget Crawling

Here are two pics of Nugget "crawling" she is doing more of the army/drag her legs crawling in these than her hopping one but you can kind of see it. Enjoy!

Father's Day

263
I AM behind! I never blogged about Father's Day. I had to work that weekend. It was sad. Ralph went up to Columbus to spend time with his family. Looks like they had a great time. :D

Again, I can't sign off without letting you know what's happening in our kitchen now. The farmer's markets are in full swing around here. I was able to get out this week and pick up some farm fresh produce. Yum! We made a basil pesto pizza with broccoli, Roma tomatoes, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. I was able to make the pesto using fresh basil from the farmer's market and the broccoli and tomatoes were also picked up there. It was so good!

Thrifting

I absolutely LOVE going thrifting. You never know what you are going to find. Here is one of my recent favorite finds. It has no markings so I have no idea the name of the manufacturer or the set but I fell in love with it. It was the only tea cup, there were no dinner plates, but I did get 4 saucers. I had no choice on the saucers, if I wanted one I had to buy all four. Hee, hee. It's so pretty that it's actually tempted me to drink tea instead of coffee on more than one occasion. Shocking, I know.

I am still here . . .

So there has been an obvious lack of activity on this blog in the last month! I will try and catch you all up on life around here. :D

The first fun thing is that we (Nugget) now has two teeth! So cute seeing that smile with her two little teeth. She is fascinated with them--hers and others. It's fun watching her notice new things like how her wrists bend and her finger flex. She's mobile now and busy chasing the dogs around the house, getting in their water and trading her toys for theirs. She's a busy little girl with a big personality.

Hmmm, did I say dogs--as in plural? Well, in fact, I did! We have adopted a Bernese Mountain Dog named Buddy. He seems to be quite the loving fellow and we are enjoying getting to know him!

Now, I can't sign off without letting you know what I've been up to in the kitchen! I made these cupcakes for a 4th of July cookout. They were soooo yummy! The cream cheese frosting really makes them pop!

I'll be putting together some other posts to let you know what else we've been up to! Check back for video of Nugget hop/crawling. Too cute!
